UMN is hosting a conference called "Doing Rhetoric" at the University of Minnesota. It looks like a micro-RSA, a micro-event bridging composition and communication.

Reflecting on the Networked Humanities Conference at UK
From http://joetorok.wordpress.com/

Some impressions, notes, and takeaways from the high throttle, enlightening Networked Humanities conference hosted by Jeff Rice and Jenny Rice at the University of Kentucky...

Also: an abridged reading list below that I stitched together from conference presentations and conversations.

From “Networked Humanities Scholarship, or the Life of Kairos,” Cheryl Ball, Illinois State University and Douglas Eyman, George Mason University

Jenny Rice:
Honestly, the Networked Humanities Conference in February looks off the hook. (We're still saying "off the hook," right?)

ALA San Francisco

Submitted by Casey Shevlin on June 5, 2012 - 9:45am

I had a lovely time at the ALA Conference in San Francisco last weekend. Despite injuring my foot badly – ten miles of walking in one day will do that – on the first day of sightseeing, I was able to see much of the beautiful city and taste many of its delicious treats. I highly recommend eating in Chinatown and stopping at The Bubble Room for a champagne-inspired drink or dessert after if you are ever in the city.

Conference Presentation Don'ts

Submitted by Gwen Hoberg on March 14, 2012 - 1:15pm

Three weeks ago, I presented a paper at a graduate student English conference in North Carolina. It was my first time both to attend and present at an English conference, so in some ways it was nice to start with the relatively low stakes of a grad student event. My fellow presenters were my peers, not professors or others professionals. On the other hand, the fact that the stakes were low almost certainly contributed to the uneven quality of some of the presentations I saw.

Dear Blogarians,

As many of you know Texas A&M will host a conference on Symbolic Violence this weekend. We've got an amazing group of scholars presenting papers and we're hoping that folks will tweet responses and reactions to the papers. Please follow along with hash tag #SVC12, starting tomorrow evening (7 PM Central Time) with David Zarefsky's address. He'll be delivering the Annual Kurt Ritter Lecture in Political Rhetoric, entitled "When, if Ever, is Symbolic Violence Justified?" Karlyn Kohrs Campbell will deliver the response. You can find a complete list of papers here: http://comm.tamu.edu/CONFERENCE%20CALENDAR.pdf

I'm at the Association of American Geographers, where I will deliver a co-authored paper on Tuesday.

There's a lot to learn from this bunch, but before I do: do any of our readers work with geographers? Political Comm folks working with political geographers? Cultural Studies Comm folks working with similarly inflected geographers? (As soon as I finish some work, I'm headed back to hear a paper on Gramsci, for example.)
