An account from InsideHigherEd of a workshop designed to improve faculty "communication." Note the negative use of the term "argument" in the interview. Sometimes it's not about "communication"; sometimes the other guy really is an asshole.

I propose instead the Texas A&M hiring rule (which has worked well for us, with maybe one exception, for a long time): make collegiality an equal BFOQ to research productivity.
