Things that drive me crazy 1

I am not a prescriptive grammarian (rhetoricians usually aren't), but this rapidly spreading meme of using "beg the question" to mean "raises the question" is a sign that no one seems to be teaching logic anymore--question-begging expressions.

I can't even tell you how many student papers I've read with this construction in it...

imo, there needs to be a required freshman course on logical fallacies at every university everywhere. I'm not sure if it should be taught by philosophers or rhetoricians, though (either would be nice)
