John Judis, the last Old Social Democrat at the New Republic, does a great job of explaining the problems with the world financial system. Meanwhile, my flight to NCA was canceled 2 hours before it was scheduled to leave, and I also discovered that paying my American Express card down to zero last month led them to cut my credit limit as well. Anyone else having this happen?

one of my students in english 474, issues in rhetoric and composition/dirty and dangerous books, is writing his final paper -- an op-ed/commentary -- for readers of TNR about the future of the GOP. yes!!

there are other important issues, of course, but i was so happy when adam announced that this was his topic. in the commonwealth of pennsylvania, there used to be a tradition of moderate, progressive republicans/ism. richard "the governor is a dick" thornburg changed all that when he emptied the commonwealth's coffers by giving every "citizen" of pa $52 while governor. http://www.dgs.state.pa.us/govres/cwp/view.asp?Q=116791

i've held on to that $52, and i will be sending it to dana cloud so that she can Buy Whatever She Wants.
