I'm Not in the Mood for Reconciliation

It's immensely enjoyable reading National Review Online, the Weekly Standard, and Drudge today. Barack Obama is a much better man than I am, but after having been called a traitor, a Communist, a Christian-hater/secularist, among other things, for the last eight years, I'm not ready. Let them stew in their wretched cultural backwaters. They produce no art, no literature, no science--nothing life-affirming, beautiful, or true.

"And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too."

I can understand this sentiment. Last night, I watched McCain's concession speech, and I got creepy chills listening to his audience boo about Obama, and shout out negative remarks about Rev. Wright. One of the commentators on Fox news (we were flipping through ALL the channels of the coverage) tried to talk about this, and of course was cut off. Makes me a little nervous....

The amount of hate and vitriol being spewed by the right is absolutely disgusting. I'm not so sure that an implosion of some sort would actually be that surprising. Looks like McCain supporters aren't exactly ready for reconciliation either. And it's a shame- the people have spoken, the system worked, move on.
