It's a shame that Wilsonian adventurism has infected the American Right. He is right that this is not conservative, Burkean or otherwise.....I'm still curious, however, that Prof. Hart uses a small l liberal-based equality argument in his quick considerations of Burkean conservatism in the American political context (on abortion). That doesn't fit - the argument would be, instead, a natural rights one...."On my Dartmouth campus, half the undergraduates are women. They do not want to have their plans derailed by an unwanted pregnancy." - is this not something of an argument from circumstance and ideology, and isn't Burkean conservatism the negation of ideology in favor of prudence toward an unseen, foundational social order?
