NCA Monthly Teleconferences

Submitted by Jim Aune on October 9, 2008 - 5:53pm

Information from the National Office on a new teleconference program--topics are towards the end of the announcement:

I am writing to introduce you to a new resource that is open exclusively to NCA members. Starting on November 10th, NCA will be offering a monthly Teleconference Series called CARD Calls: Communicating about Research and Professional Development.

Every other month we will have a research presentation which will follow a conventional academic format. The speaker will make a presentation and then the phone lines will be opened for questions and discussion. Topics will be varied. During the alternating months we will address topics related to professional development for communication scholars. The goal of the professional development teleconferences will be to share important information about the discipline and how to successfully engage in a range of professional activities (e.g., teaching, job search, grant-writing).

The schedule of topics and speakers for the 2008-2009 series can be found below. Each teleconference will last for one hour, and there is no fee for participation. To register for one or more of the teleconferences, please email or fax Melissa Anderson (manderson@natcom.org or 202-464-4600) and indicate the teleconferences for which you would like to reserve a spot along with your name, affiliation, email address, and phone number. You can also download a registration form at http://www.natcom.org.

Please note that the registration deadline for each teleconference is 72 hours prior to the start of the teleconference. However, there will be a registration limit of 100 phone lines (more than one person can be participating from a single phone line), so please register for the teleconferences that interest you as soon as possible to ensure that you get spots. Calls will be recorded and posted to NCA’s website.

I am looking forward to a lively set of discussions during these teleconferences. If you have any questions about the series, please feel free to call or email me.

Best,

Nancy Kidd
