What's good for the goose...

...is apparently not good for the gander. This whole 'lipstick on a pig' brouhaha has me rankled. McCain first used the phrase in reference to Hillary. Now Obama uses it in reference to McCain, and the McCain camp spin it as an insult to Sarah Palin (who told this joke: the only difference between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull---lipstick). Come ON! Lip Stick has become this metonym for a sexist dig, and McCain can't have his cake and eat it, too...using it himself against a woman, then defending 'his' woman when he wrongly interprets it as a slight against her. Tsk Tsk Tsk...shame on McCain.

Apparently historians are the academics most likely to identify as "Democrat."

What's going on with you rhetoricians?

It doesn't seem like you are doing your fair share. This blog is certainly a good start, but maybe you could take some pointers from the history profs.

Just insert your field for the "historians" identifier, and I think you have a pretty good mission statement for the Blogora:

"Historians should be sharing their minds and their bodies with the Obama campaign. We can help them work harder and smarter. Let's get out the vote!"
